OBJECTIVES

Component Life Extension

  • Minimize neutron fluence at hot spots
  • Monitor power history for impact of reactor components
  • Scope projected core designs and operating strategies for potential neutron fluence impacts

Track Flaws

  • Model actual flaw locations (Critical flaws: shroud welds, RPV welds, nozzle welds, baffle plate welds)
  • Support outage inspections with accurate neutron fluence or flux calculations (Account for operating strategy impacts and avoid interpolations in the field)
  • Provide cycle reports with update neutron fluence at critical locations

Update Fluence Models

  • Collect historical operating data for completed cycles
  • Revise fluence models for new/replaced components (shroud repair tie rods, jet pumps, weld overlays, etc.)
  • Implement evolving modeling improvements efficiently

Maintain Compliance with NRC Regulatory Guide 1.190
